Crypto Payment Circle Acquisition Of Crowdfunding Platform Seedinvest
The cryptocurrency financial company Circle, backed by Goldman Sachs, announced that it has completed the acquisition of SeedInvest, a crowdfunding platform and a registered operator of broker dealers. On March 4th, the Coinbase official blog posted this news.
Cointelegraph first reported on the ongoing acquisition in October last year and noted that the deal would enable Circle to expand SeedInvest’s products to support cryptocurrency, including statutory stable currencies and the issuance and supply of tokenized securities. At the time, the transaction was put on hold until it was approved by the US Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
According to the announcement, the acquisition was completed after Circle received regulatory approval from the US Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. According to reports, the acquired company will continue to operate normally and allow Circle to further explore asset tokenization.
At the same time, according to an unconfirmed report, Circle itself is seeking to raise $250 million in equity and debt.
A recent acquisition by Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange, sparked controversy after news that the acquired digital intelligence company Neutrino was involved in a hacking team that reportedly sold the tracking software to a dictatorship.
